Mid-March, 2008, I attempted to go to Fat Smitty’s and eat a delicious burger, but they were closed. A few weeks later, the Bill Self-coached Kansas Jayhawks defeated the John Calipari-coached Memphis Tigers in the NCAA Championship game.

A few weeks ago, mid-March 2012, I drove past Fat Smitty’s for a job interview. Once again, I did not eat there. Tonight, the Kansas Jayhawks, who are still coached by Bill Self, face the Kentucky Wildcats — whose mascot is also of the cat family, and who are also coached by John Calipari.
